Our names are David Midgley known as "Midge" and Anthea Midgley. We both work to pay for the care of the creatures. Anthea went back to work in 1992 to help finance the centre, due to the growth of the centre.
At first very few people knew about us so we could manage to pay without noticing the cost. Then more people found out about our work by word of mouth.
So we thought we would try fund raising at shows.
The penny didn't drop that while fund raising more people would learn about us. So we would need more funds to cover the growing costs that's when Anthea went out to work. We have not had a holiday together since the eighties and are still hoping to find the time just to get away for the weekend when we do not have so many creatures in our care. A very good friend is willing to stay at our house and care for the animals. But when push comes to shove we look at the money and think we need it more for centre.
The creatures come from South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and beyond. We have a few good friends who help us in various ways, going with Midge to shows while Anthea is at work, doing posters, taking photographs of some of the animals/birds, others help by having a collection box in their work places all of this help is really appreciatated and very much needed.
