Description

It is our aim to create within our school a secure, happy, stimulating and caring environment, which will help all our pupils to fulfil their potential. We seek to provide within this atmosphere a wide range of educational opportunities for all our pupils, regardless of race, creed, colour, ability or disability. To develop and maintain such an atmosphere demands high standards, discipline and commitment, both educationally and socially, from all those involved with the school. We seek to show by example the importance of respect; for all the people and property in the school, and the community, and for the school's rules. We view children as individuals, and have a commitment to recognise and cater for their needs educationally, socially, morally, spiritually and culturally.

Company description
Abbey Lane is renowned for its wealth of extended school opportunities. Theatre trips are promoted, every year, for a wide age range of children after school. Sports clubs include hockey, trampolining, tennis with Beauchief coaches and football with SWFC are but a few of the activities after school. Many children take up the chance to learn an instrument e.g. guitar, keyboard, drums, flute, violin to name a few musical instruments.
Our growing commitment to learning a foreign language now means we have Y3/Y4  pupils learning French and Y5/Y6 pupils learning German. Our film club is growing from strength to strength and the purchase of new cameras and laptops enable the film crew to create even better productions. A parent run Newspaper club at lunctimes produces the Abbey Times. The Gardening club is always popular.
Golden time is usually the highlight of the week where various activities such as Hair and Beauty, juggling are available to reward children for good behaviour and hard work.
